I know what you’re thinking. “Who in her right mind wears velvet in the summer?”. Well, I am about to challenge you to do just that. I’m not encouraging you to step out in the sweltering heat in a head-to-toe velvet suit. I am, however, saying that a velvet accent here and there could be a nice refresher to your summer wardrobe. I recently wore this outfit to a Mixed Medium event at an art gallery in Chelsea. I wanted to wear something that was stylish and sophisticated, but still edgy and “downtown”. I love a great all black outfit, but I think breaking up the black with the statement, chainlink earrings, the red pocket and the white mules really brought this whole look together and made it a little more interesting and fun.
